Day 6 in Taiwan - Shifen (十分), Jiufen (九份) & Raohe Night Market (饒河夜市)

back to 十分 for the 3rd time to 放天灯...

best handwriting award goes to 洪爸爸!!!

1st timer @ 放天灯-ing

got interrupted by a choo-choo-choo....

which went as fast as it came... and we were back on track (literally) pretty soon... =P

a new tunnel made driving from 十分 to 九份 so much less winding...

as this was my 3rd time to jiufen, i didnt really bother to take many pictures.... just random one or two from here from there.... =P

must eat = 芋圆 in 姜母茶 ... with longan as a bonus.... yummmmzzzzz ....

mad love the popiah peanut ice cream roll too....

found my usual 太阳饼 shop and bought a total of 9 boxes.... wahahaha....

this used to be a Japanese ran gold mining factory that had been forgotten after the Japanese left taiwan in 1945...

super orangey rocks that caused the 阴阳海 to be 阴阳海... =P

we were so full from all the yummilious snack at Jiufen that instead of popping by Keelung Night Market which was a short drive from Jiufen as planned, we decided to check in our apartment in Taipei to take a break in the afternoon

(pics from airbnb)

though it was our most expensive stay on this trip at $260.10/night but still finds it worthy of the price as it came with a spacious living room for us to hang out together and was just a 3 minutes walk to Zhong Xiao Fu Xing (忠孝復興) mtr station.... i have to mention that this apartment is also near to a public gym which made my Mr Ang very happy....

total of 3 rooms; 1 big & 2 small

took a short break and it was dinner time..... and off to my favourite night market in Taipei

as we reached rather early at  6pm... there was no queue at this famous 胡椒饼 stall.... so must buy!!!

tried the 药燉排骨 soup.... very very yummy....

this was good too.... we had the cheese with egg....

poser @ the banana pancake stall.... this one was average only.... not worth the calories...

this humongous sweet potato balls were also yumzzzz

happy 洪爸爸 & 洪妈妈 with their proper dinner; fish porridge

and icing for the night for me was this gigantic ducky cotton candy which got me really excited!!!

so huge i couldnt get a proper selfie with it on my own!!!... wahahahaha

literally on a sugar high that night as i ate 99% of it...

Day 5 in Taiwan - Things we do in Yilan

since 2003, i had always wanted to visit Yilan just because it is the hometown of 仔仔.....wahahahahaha....

anyway, 天不作美 when we reached the black beach of Yilan... there went our chance to be featured in a drone captured video complimentary of 老蔡司机 again.... sad..... =S

nothing much to do and see... the sea was too far out... we were definitely not dressed for the beach....

look look see see...spotted a humongous sneaker!!!

which giant lost his sneaker ah?!?!?!?!?!

famous old school ice cream which 老蔡司机 recommended... really very traditional flavours and texture.... can select 3 flavours per cup... we ordered 2 so as to sample all 6 flavours available.... =D

at Tang-wei-gou Park, the public hot spring for feet only... the only one in slippers for the day got to enjoy 2 minutes of hot hot shiokness while the rest of us were too lazy to remove our shoes.... =P

popped by the spicy ice cream place just next to the hot spring park

... 7 levels of spiciness...

we opted for green mango with a spiciness level of 1, the least spicy... not too adventurous when it comes to food....

spicy ice cream came with spicy chocolate and spicy chips

all the 不吃辣 ones took only a bite each and 洪爸爸 and I finished the rest.... it was quite an unique experience to be eating sour mango ice cream with a spicy sting... =D

chilli of various levels are also sold in the shop ...

i bought these 2 bottles of chilli for Alfred & 蔡 Mummy... the left is mango favour (Tabasco style) while the left is for adding to dishes during cooking.... 蔡 Mummy said that adding just half a small tea spoon of it into her cooking is enough to make Alfred say SHIOK....means it must be really good....

a short drive away and we reached Jimmy Park (幾米廣場)

Yilan Train station was given a matching upgrading to fit into the Jimmy's style deco of the surrounding a few years back ....

一个人是拿不动的

要夫妻携手才行哦

看我们的一指神功!!!... =P

fate really plays a part in who we meet in our life....

baby don't go..... i damn drama seh!!!... wahahahaha

and a short drive away again.... we reached our apartment for the night... which turned out to be ridiculously huge....

had booked it through airbnb @ $244/night for 5 of us...

turned out that it was a minsu in a ulu area... luckily we had a driver who drive us to and fro Luodong night market, which was just a 5 minute drive away.....

i think there was a total of 7 rooms on the 2nd and 3rd level... 洪爸妈 and 洪小弟 took 2 rooms on the 2nd level while Mr Ang and I took a room on the 3rd level.... all rooms come with an attached toilet
the key to our bedroom
our room

view from our room... so peaceful... so calm....

sad looking soft toys just outside our room.... wahahahahaha

no like the snoopy.... i just wanna the mega 熊 ... =P

there was even a lift in the house.... mega luv.... so must pose this pic of us in the lift even though i looked damn shag and auntie in the pic.... =S

projector screen for tv....

kitchen and dinning area

a chef just popped up of nowhere the next morning and cooked breakfast for us.....  i didnt even know that breakfast was provided until we checked in ....wahahahahaha.....

there is even a swing outside the house.....

the owner's pet geese

visited luodong night market, the biggest and most crowded night market inYilan... plenty to eat... but was too lazy to take pic after a long long day....

bought the heaviest item on this trip...diatomite mat....
first encounter the amazing effect at the Yilan apartment so was super excited and bought it on impulse the moment i saw it at the night market at NT$1000 for 2 (S$22.50 each)

came back, tried to google more about it and found out that it is sold on qoo10, ezbuy etc etc and @ a cheaper price ...!@#$%^&*(*&^%$#!@#....
