IVP4403: New Media (9 - 12) - stopmotion

To begin the lesson, Paul shared some time-lapse and stop-motion videos which are all so cute...

Keith Loutit's works... the camera angle he used to capture the images and the post production effect he added made life-size buildings and people all look like teeny weeny miniatures.... 



he even made one of Singapore and this video has been trending in Facebook shortly after too

conclusion: in order to create this kind of amazing time-lapse or stop-motion video, a HUGE team of talented and committed people, a HUGE sum of money and a HUGE amount of time are required.

our last assignment for this module was to create a 1 minute time-lapse or stopmotion ... i assume something simple should be good enough since we, as student teachers, do not have an entourage of  people to brainstorm for ideas together or help us in the production nor have the huge sum of money to create props and stuff and engage talent and definitely not have the huge amount of time to think, do and put-together a mega video.... =P 


anyway, my first idea was to do a time-lapse of the sunset over sentosa and hopefully get to capture USS's fireworks at 9pm too but 天不作美.... it was cloudy and there wasn't any firework that weekend due to Halloween special... =S... 



realised that i had forgotten to credit the  royalty free music from incompetech ..... =S... will get to it coming Monday when lesson is conducted in the mac studio, the only place where i can have access to Photoshop & Premiere.... 

not too bad for a first timer....at least not too choppy and not too stagnant... but kind of boring right???? ..... and i was ding donging between wanting to capture long exposure for the beautiful lightings or freeze frame for the movement of the ferries as the night fell .... =S .... wanted to play a little with the zoom lens but didn't have the guts to go about trying it.... i'm just not a risk taker  when it comes to time constraint and assignments... =S 

and i have to agree..... no risk no gain....

a huge part of me wanted to do more for this assignment.... spent the whole night and the next morning cracking my brain and surfing youtube for ideas... tons of ideas but most were dropped as either  money (more than $20)  is required to purchase the resources or too much time is required to complete the task... i have only set aside one full day to complete this assignment...
