tooty twos' art lessons on finger printing with Judith Braun

Judith Braun, an artist from New York who is still actively creating art TODAY.... a very controversial artist in her early years but is more recognized for her current work using fingerprinting..... =)

Using principles of art, we discussed about creating balanced patterns with our fingerprints...

presenting the focused and engaged little artists;

of Lee Kuan Yew - our founding father

i hate queues.... i had never queue to meet any celebrities, attend members' sales or purchase collectibles, i would rather skip the queue and eat at fast food restaurant or food centres if the queue at restaurants are too long....

but my heart told me that i just had to join the hundred of thousands in paying my last respect to the selfless man regardless of the hours that i had to stand in queue....

saw this right at the entrance of the padang....
lucky for us, we did not start here...  we strolled pass the 4 hours point too... =)

in fact, the padang was rather empty

and the flow of people was smooth

we finally reached our first pit stop after a 20 minutes stroll from raffle city ... time check - 10.15am

thank you volunteers, organisors, soldiers for the umbrellas

refreshments

buns

sweets

cold wet towels

and even "home-made" water mist

Singapore looks even more beautiful this week

despite the thousands of people who were in the queue, it was quiet and orderly...

last time check - 12.50pm

we took a total of a little less than 3 hours.... =)

no photography allowed in the parliament house so i just kope these  pics below from the net

Dear Mr Lee Kuan Yew,

THANK YOU for being such a selfless leader who put improving the welfare and future for the people as your life purpose. My grandma was a 红头巾, my mum was not given the opportunity to attend school and i believe that if not for your visions, your plans, your actions, your perseverance to ensure all your plans were carried out, i would not be the fortunate 3rd generation who gets to enjoy the problems of living in a first world country....

and on this page, i shall keep all the images, stories, articles about you just so that i can click back whenever i think of you....

penned by Ivy James Faglho:

I am literate.

I am educated.

I am bilingual (and I can also speak some Hokkien).

I have a recognized diploma.

Simply because the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew did not subscribe to the notion of 女子无才便是德 (loosely translated: A woman is virtuous when she is not talented / educated).

Eulogy by Li Hongyi:

He would have discussions with our parents while my cousins and I would sit by the side and listen. I would always feel a bit silly after listening. He made me realise how petty all my little concerns were and how there were so many bigger problems in the world. He made me want to do something more with my life.

You didn't have to care about frivolous things or play silly games. You could do something good with your life, and the best way to do so was to have good principles and conduct yourself honourably.

What made him a great man was the person he chose to be. A man of character, clarity, and conviction. We should remember him less as a man who gave us great gifts, and more as a man who showed us the kind of people we could be.
